Buy Now Pay Later services like Klarna, Afterpay, and Affirm have been around long enough that buyers think nothing of using them. A pair of shoes here. A couch there. A phone upgrade split into four payments.

What most buyers do not know is that lenders are now factoring this debt into underwriting. It does not always show up on a traditional credit report but new lending guidelines in 2026 are specifically looking for it. What feels like a zero interest convenience could show up as a liability at the worst possible moment.

Eight years in the making. Worth every single one of them. 🏡

He started looking for a home eight years ago.
