As a SFC, U.S. Army/National Guard veteran of 20 years, I’ve learned that gratitude can be a complicated thing.

When people say “thank you for your service,” I know it comes from a good place—and I truly respect that. But the truth is, it’s sometimes hard to know how to respond. Not because it doesn’t mean anything, but because service was never about recognition. It was about commitment, responsibility, and being part of something bigger than myself.

I served my country proudly. I stood beside incredible men and women, shared sacrifices most people never see, and lived through moments that shape you for a lifetime. That pride runs deep—but so does the humility that comes with it.

So when you say thank you, just know this: it truly does mean something, even if I don’t always have the words in that moment.

I didn’t serve for thanks.

I served because I believed in something. And I still do

As a nurse working in case review and report writing, I’ve learned that organization isn’t just about staying on top of tasks — it directly impacts the quality and clarity of the work we produce.
When managing rush cases, detailed reviews, and multiple report deadlines, having a structured approach makes all the difference. For me, that means triaging priorities early, keeping a clear workflow, and documenting as I go rather than trying to piece everything together later.
Report writing requires both clinical accuracy and attention to detail, and staying organized helps ensure that nothing is missed — especially when timelines are tight and follow-up communication is needed.
In this space, organization becomes more than a skill — it’s part of delivering accurate, timely, and reliable work that others depend on.
Always learning, always refining. 🩺

Life is beautiful.

This morning I was out walking the yard cleaning up some limbs from the storm and found this ⬇️

The fawn is all curled up next to my sea wall. Did not flinch when I was out there.

Listen to me talk to her/him and did not move an inch.

Informed to just let the little one be and mom would return.

I now know where all my Lilly greens have gone. 🫢

Might not seen them bloom this year, but I have this to watch for now.

Yesterday was Mother’s Day, and I had several of my students reach out to wish me a Happy Mother’s Day. What a powerful and humbling feeling—to be seen, appreciated, and loved by those you pour into daily. Being part of their journey isn’t always easy; I challenge them, push them, and hold them to a high standard. But it comes from a place of wanting them to succeed, to grow, and to become the compassionate, skilled nurses the world needs. To know they feel that support truly touched my heart.
And I’m also grateful for a simple but meaningful acknowledgment from my daughter. We’ve been reconnecting, and moments like that mean more than words can always express. I appreciate the space we’re in and the time we’re taking to build forward.
This weekend, I also had the blessing of spending time with my mom, celebrating her and all that she is. At 82 years young, she continues to inspire me—still working, still living life fully, and still showing strength, grace, and resilience every single day. She is a true example of what it means to love life and keep moving forward with purpose.
Mom, thank you for being my foundation, my inspiration, and my constant reminder of what strength and love look like. Everything I give to others is rooted in what you first gave to me.
May we be blessed with many more years of laughter, celebration, and cherished moments together. ❣️

National Nurses Day Reflection
I had the honor, on National Nurses Day, to pin this young, inspiring, and incredibly smart woman.

Her journey hasn’t been easy—but she never gave up. She stayed committed, worked hard, and pushed through every challenge that came her way.
The opportunity to make an impact on the lives of others is truly a blessing, and I know she will do exactly that.
She used to come to my class every Monday at 9 AM just to get her weekly hug and share her story of the week. Those moments were special—not just for me, but for the new students who learned so much from her experiences.
I had the privilege of teaching her in her very first semester, guiding her through her skills and assessment courses. Over time, we built a bond where she felt comfortable coming to me whenever she needed support.
As instructors, we need to instill in our students that we are here to mentor them and help them grow—not to tear each other down. Nursing school is hard enough. They deserve guidance, support, and someone who believes in them while still holding them to the standard they need to succeed.
Watching her grow into the nurse she is today has been an incredible experience. I’m so proud of you—and I can’t wait to see the lives you’ll touch.

Mother Nature has been on one lately—wild, wicked, and completely unpredictable. One day we’re soaking up 71-degree sunshine, and the next we’re digging out jackets for a 40-degree reality check. That kind of swing messes with your body, your mindset, and your expectations. Just when you think you’ve settled into a rhythm, everything changes.

If that doesn’t sound familiar, it should.

Life care planning and legal nurse consulting live in that same space of constant fluctuation. One moment, records are organized, timelines make sense, and the case narrative flows. The next, you’re navigating incomplete files, contradictory documentation, evolving theories, and pressure that seems to shift by the hour. The pace changes. The tone changes. The expectations change. And just like the weather, none of it asks if you’re ready.

What matters is how you respond.

As a life care planner or legal nurse consultant, staying “in the game” isn’t about ideal conditions. It’s about adaptability and endurance. It’s about knowing when to dig deep, when to slow down, and when to recalibrate without losing focus. This work requires precision, critical thinking, and resilience—even when circumstances are cold, chaotic, or unpredictable.

Some days feel smooth and validating. Others feel heavy, meticulous, and mentally exhausting. But the responsibility remains the same: thoroughly analyze the records, protect the integrity of your opinions, and remain grounded in evidence and experience. The outcomes of this work matter. They impact legal strategy, care planning, and ultimately, people’s lives and futures.

Mother Nature reminds us that control is temporary. Preparation, perspective, and perseverance are what carry us through. Just like the rapid drop from 71 to 40, the work will continue to shift. Staying steady, flexible, and committed—no matter the forecast—is what defines strong life care planners and legal nurse consultants.
