- A student in a campus dorm may still be covered under a parent's homeowners policy, but coverage is often limited and may not extend off-campus.

- Students in apartments typically need their own renters insurance. It often costs less than a streaming subscription.

- Laptops, cameras, and instruments may have sub-limits and could need to be scheduled separately.
