📈 BANKRUPTCY FILINGS ARE SURGING IN CENTRAL FLORIDA
If it seems like more people and businesses are struggling with debt right now, the numbers confirm it.
Bankruptcy filings nationwide increased 12.2%, but here in the Middle District of Florida, filings were up approximately 27% through the first six months of 2026.
And in the Orlando Division alone, filings increased approximately 22% compared with the same period last year.
Small businesses are feeling the pressure too. Subchapter V filings increased approximately 50% nationwide during the first half of 2026.
High-interest debt, credit cards, Merchant Cash Advances, SBA/EIDL loans, lawsuits and rising operating costs can quickly become overwhelming.
Bankruptcy isn't necessarily the end of a business or someone's financial future. In many cases, it can be a tool to restructure debt, stop collection activity and create a path forward.
