The Ratings attest to a lawyer's legal ability and professional ethics, and reflect the confidential opinions of members of the Bar and Judiciary. The Ratings are part of a century-long tradition and are exclusive to Martindale-Hubbell. Ratings are established by lawyers for lawyers. A happy client!!! A month ago I fought at trial for two weeks in Seminole County for my deserving client. We were blessed with a just and fair victory. Rarely does this happen, but the insurance companies decided to pay instead of continuing to fight me. Now my client gets his money that he had waited YEARS to get paid.

Tonight an understanding and patient Seminole County jury blessed my client with JUSTICE! It was a grueling 2-week trial against two different sets of defense counsel -- the trial involved two crashes that occurred within 6 months. Neither defense party would accept accountability for the neck and back injuries that both crashes combined to cause. Today's VERY substantial verdict will provide for my client's future medical care and financial wage losses.
Two different insurance companies played a game with me of "Fool Around and Find Out" and, well, they found out. Lol. I fought the only way that I know how: I brought my "A" Game while being physically tested with my own personal issues. Thankfully I endured to the end despite running on fumes most of the time. Thank you for entrusting me with your case Clay.

Because I have been so busy with so many trials lately, I have been neglectful on interviewing for different positions at my office. If any of my friends in the legal Community know an attorney and/or paralegal who are good and looking for work, send them my way. I'm going to begin interviewing people this week.

"Failure is not an option". So thankful for what an Orange County jury was able to do today for the benefit of my client. After a 6-day jury trial, that included more than 12 hours of jury deliberations, an Orange County jury just returned a monster-sized verdict. Just in time for the Halloween holidays. A client, who truly had no voice in the fight with his own insurance companies, was finally able to be heard 6 years after his crash. Another lawyer had the case for many years, and asked me to assist him with the trial presentation. The case was magnificently worked up by attorneys Adam Littman and Mitzi Archer, who put in countless hours fighting for their client. I came in to assist with the jury trial work. It was a wonderful team effort. In the end, I'm so glad for our client Jose. He may not speak the best English, but he understood the magnitude of Justice when it was announced, and that's all anyone can ever hope for. Thank you to all who made this glorious result happen!!!

The list for the top Motor Vehicle Accident verdicts in 2024 for all of Florida has now come out. I am proud to share that 2 of my verdicts were in the top 10 ( #5 and #10) and 2 more verdicts made it 4 out of the top 26 from the entire state ( #21 and #26). I am the only lawyer with 2 verdicts on the top 10 list. Given that my little ol' firm competes against the biggest law firms in the world, I will gladly take it. 😊

My longggg legal battles have now come to an end. I have gotten to experience the "thrill of victory and the agony of defeat". I truly never regard "Victory" as a monetary pursuit, but rather it is a search for real "Justice" for my clients.

Today a Lake County jury returned a very appropriate and generous verdict for a deserving client who was T-boned by a truck that wasn't paying attention. I feel so grateful for what that open-minded jury was able to do for my client in a very significant way. However, regrettably, my Orange County trial from the week before had an exactly opposite result despite very comparable facts and medical evidence. Sadly that first client was reimbursed by the jury for only his ambulance and ER bill, but not for any of the other significant medical treatment thereafter to include a costly spine surgery.

I literally concluded the first trial late last Monday evening, but I had no time to wallow and writhe in my anguish, because I had to jump into trial in Lake County at 8:30 the very next morning. That second trial was an equally challenging, yet good case, and that trial went into late Monday of this week (today), where fortunately that second client received a very just and deserving jury verdict outcome.

It just goes to prove there's a lot of uncertainty in our legal system. But that uncertainty shouldn't stop us from seeking justice at EVERY opportunity. My take away from the last two and a half weeks of legal battles in Court is simply that you can never predict anything in our legal system, but you should ALWAYS strive to achieve the BEST while also NEVER taking ANYTHING for granted!!

I am soooooo exhausted right now, but feeling uplifted that at least one of my two clients is happy today. I worked my butt off for the last three weeks (as did many of my valuable co-workers at my office). If only I could go back in time and do something to salvage the first trial's result for that disappointed client. Ughhh.

I am at the halfway mark of an intense legal journey. This past week I've been fighting in trial for a client in Orange County; he was injured in a high speed crash and ultimately came to need surgery as a result. That trial was supposed to have been over on Friday but, due to unusual delays, that trial has been extended to Monday for closing arguments. However, I am supposed to start a different trial in Lake County on Monday! That is also an equally compelling case where that client has also had surgery due to someone else crashing into the side of his vehicle. So now my brain is split dealing with two cases simultaneously. My capable trial partner will select the jury in trial number two on Monday, while I wrap up trial number one. Then I have to jump right into trial number two and try to bring that to a successful closure. The stress and personal sacrifice has been overwhelming, but this is what I do and "this too shall pass". Hopefully I accomplish Justice for both of my deserving clients. Only time will tell. God give me the strength to carry on...

Happy Memorial day. Let us not forget the reason today is celebrated....

I am heartbroken to report that my client's two-week trial ended in a MISTRIAL this morning. I believe the Insurance defense attorneys dragged out the trial to prevent it from concluding in the two weeks allotted by erecting unreasonable barriers. It is truly awful when innocent people have their ability to obtain justice delayed. "Justice delayed is justice denied". The defense attorneys, who get paid per hour, are FINANCIALLY REWARDED by delays. I poured my heart and soul into this case, as I do all cases. I worked around the clock including weekends of both Mother's Day and my Birthday, but sadly that is the life I have chosen. My work, sadly, takes a toll on the lives of my innocent family and wife. But my client didn't chose this life. He certainly wished that he didn't have to go to trial at ALL but for the insurance companies (two of his OWN insurance companies!!) completely failing to resolve his SIZEABLE claims many YEARS AGO. So here we are, sad, heartbroken and annoyed BUT I WILL BRING DOWN HELL, FIRE AND DAMNATION the next opportunity I am given to try Ken's case. You can take that to the bank!!

Right now I am home relaxing from spending a long week in trial in Orange County with a patient and fair Judge, and an attentive jury. I still have another week to go. Although it is not exactly how I'd normally wish to spend my birthday, in some respects it is fitting as I am more at home in a Courtroom than any other place. Lol. Being in trial, while fighting for a client who has genuinely lost so much due to his accidents, has given me perspective and gratitude. I am grateful for the amazing life I have. Today, more than any other, all I feel is love, blessings, peace and happiness. I have fantastic coworkers who actually care about their work and me as a boss; I have soooo many wonderful friends (including many Facebook friends who have reached out to me today--Thank you!); I have a wonderful family who genuinely care about me; and I am blessed with the most amazing wife and life partner, Kasandra! So, how could an old guy want anything more? Every day is a GIFT. Indeed, a wonderful LIFE is the best birthday present I could ask for! Thank you God!

02/28/2025

Once again, I gladly and appreciatively give thanks to an understanding and receptive jury in Orange County! My amazing trial partner Trakina Graham-Williams and I were able to bring real justice to a deserving man's life. His own insurance company was contending he was not injured in an auto accident, and they insulted their own customer and three exceptional, intelligent treating physicians. If people really knew what they had to go through in dealing with their own insurance company, you would understand why I must fight so hard for people. In the end, I say congratulations to you Patrick. I gave you the best that I could, and I'm glad it was recognized by the jury!
P.S. my client taught me a very professional way to say "Eff around and find out", so I used it in my closing arguments! "Please, test that assumption and then take note of the results!" Lol!

02/08/2025

Again, I must give tremendous thanks to a wonderful, understanding Orange County jury!!! They returned a verdict that validated a great man who truly suffered at the hands of his OWN insurance company. The unfair treatment of my client by his OWN insurance company was recognized as an act of "bad faith" and the jury reaffirmed what we have long known. I originally tried this case for my client in 2011. Sadly he passed away in 2020. Three Appeals, and two trials later, the insurance company is NOW being held accountable. 18 years of "low ball" offers, and ridiculous, condescending and insulting treatment will now come to an end! Thank you, thank you, thank you jury!!! Special thanks to attorney Mark A. Risi, who is the one that first met with the client back in 2007, and by the incredibly talented attorney Steve Marino. The two of them really made a huge difference in the life of my client's Widow and her deserving family.
