Here is why we are so passionate about helping nonprofits win.

12.8 million jobs. 10% of all private sector employment. $3.7 trillion raised annually (at the time of this recording).

The nonprofit sector is not a footnote in our economy — it is one of the most powerful chapters.

And every single one of those organizations started with one founder who decided to begin. Grab a FREE copy of Attorney Chisholm's best selling nonprofit book at StartYourNonprofit.com

Private foundation founders — if you believe funding your organization yourself means the IRS rules don't apply to you, this video is an important watch.

Funding it alone doesn't change the rules. It changes how important it is to understand them.

Chisholm Law Firm specializes in helping private founders give correctly — so your resources reach the right places in the right ways.

Attorney Audrey K. Chisholm lives this principle every day.

She gives freely — her advice, her encouragement, her support to causes she believes in. And when she rebuilt her nonprofit board, she intentionally brought in generous people who show up and lend their talents and experience wholeheartedly.

The board she has now is a direct reflection of the generosity she leads with.

Like produces like. Generosity attracts generosity.

If you're starting a nonprofit, you're most likely forming a public charity — even if you haven't used that term yet.

Here's what that actually means:
✅ You run programs that directly benefit the community
✅ You raise funds from a broad base of donors, grants, and events
✅ Your board is structured to serve the public — not a small insider group

And here's something many founders don't know: public charity status isn't permanent. The IRS evaluates it over a five-year period using a public support test. If your organization doesn't receive at least one-third of its support from the general public, you could be reclassified as a private foundation — with much stricter rules.

Swipe through our latest carousel to see what a public charity is, who qualifies, and how the IRS determines your classification.

Nonprofit founders — not having the money right now is an obstacle. Not a final answer.

Successful founders do what is necessary for the result. They find a means. They solve the problem.

If a $50 monthly investment could help your nonprofit win a grant worth thousands — that investment is worth finding a way to make.

Nonprofit founders — cutting costs keeps your organization running. Investing wisely makes it grow.

The nonprofits reaching the most people didn't get there by spending as little as possible. They got there by making the right investments in the tools, the strategy, and the support that moved their mission forward.

There is a difference between being lean and being afraid to invest.

Choose the investments that grow your mission. The payoff is worth it. Schedule a nonprofit strategy call today — ChisholmFirm.com

Nonprofit founders — before you pass on a tool because of the monthly cost, ask yourself one question: what is the payoff?

A grant writing platform that costs $50 a month and helps you win a $25,000 grant is not an expense. It is a return on investment your mission cannot afford to miss.

Think like a million dollar nonprofit. Invest in what grows your mission.
