Great layout? Good.

Solid construction? Even better.

Actual bones?

Now I’ve got questions.

I also do rehabs myself sometimes, but I still prefer the vacant houses to actually be vacant. 🎃🤣

You know you’ve lived in your house too long when the broken stuff isn’t broken anymore.

It’s just “how the house works.” 😂

That drawer has a special angle.

Nobody touches that one light switch.

The temporary repair became permanent three years ago.

And there’s definitely a box in the garage you haven’t opened since move in day.

Every house has its weird little systems.

Yep.

The more interesting question is whether anybody has to tell you about the extra roommate first.

Homes with a disturbing history or reputation can fall into what real estate calls a stigmatized property, and the disclosure rules aren’t the same everywhere.

There was even a famous New York case involving a seller who had publicly described the house as haunted. The buyer ultimately got out of the deal.

So if that beautiful old house seems suspiciously cheap, I’d probably ask a few more questions.

Sometimes the inspection isn’t the only thing that finds surprises. 👻

Mortgage. Taxes. Insurance. HOA if you have one.

That’s the number you’re actually living with every month.
