On this Valentine’s Day, I want to thank my Valentine of 35 years, the man who quietly changed the course of my life.
Fourteen years ago, a colleague suggested I start my own law firm. I said I couldn’t. My husband was a stay-at-home dad to our four boys. I told myself we’d need to pay for health insurance and that I wasn’t interested in taking clients from the large firm where I worked.
When I shared that conversation with my husband later that day, he didn’t pause.
“What part of that can’t you do?”
In that moment, I became a business owner.
Not because the risks disappeared, but because I was loved by someone who believed in me more than I believed in myself.
