The Alabama supreme court has issued an order that will impact many currently set cases. If your case has a hearing set in the next month, call your attorney to check on the status. If you have a legal issue that requires immediate attention, contact an attorney to find out how to handle an emergency situation while the court system is suspended.
See below for information on how court systems will temporarily handle cases.
As of March 13, 2020, the Alabama supreme court has issued an order suspending in-person court proceedings until April 16, 2020. Therefore cases in domestic relations, child support, juvenile, district criminal, small claims, traffic, district civil, jury trials, circuit criminal, and circuit civil are suspended. There are exceptions to the in-person appearance ban that includes emergency hearings for juveniles, protection from abuse hearings, emergency child custody and protection matters (including DHR), and other emergency matters as deemed necessary. If you have an ongoing case contact your attorney for information specific to your case. For other information visit www.lee.alacourt.gov
