Immigrant workers who rely on employment authorization documents (EAD) to work may experience gaps in authorization due to this sudden change in DHS policy. Employers of these workers will experience a slowdown in productivity due to these gaps.

This change would not be as significant if DHS would process applications to extend work authorization within 6 months. Currently, processing times can be as long as 12 or more months in some categories.

The Department of Homeland Security has announced an interim final rule ending the practice of automatically extending employment authorization documents for aliens filing renewal applications in certain employment authorization categories.

USCIS will no longer accept checks or money orders after October 28th. After Oct. 28, USCIS will accept only ACH debit transactions using Form G-1650 or credit card payments using Form G-1450.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has implemented a new way to pay fees using electronic debit from a U.S. bank account.

There are limits on where immigration officials can operate, and constitutional protections remain in place.

On January 22, USCIS published an alert announcing that it had waived the requirement for applicants for adjustment of status to provide evidence of COVID-19 vaccinations, reversing its previous policy from October 1, 2021. This means USCIS will not issue Requests for Evidence (RFE) or Notices of Intent to Deny (NOID) nor deny any Form I-485 based on a lack of COVID-19 vaccination documentation, although the CDC still requires the vaccination for medical exams.
