USCIS announced new efforts to increase efficiency and reduce burdens to the legal immigration system. The agency will set new backlog reduction goals, expand premium processing to additional form types, and work to improve timely access to employment authorization documents. To reduce the processing backlogs, USCIS is establishing new internal cycle time goals to guide the backlog reduction efforts and affect how long it takes to process cases. For expanding premium processing, USCIS will be expanding the categories of forms ultimately eligible for premium processing services. To improve access to employment authorization, the agency streamlined different processes, including extending validity periods and providing expedited work authorization renewals for healthcare and childcare workers.
