ACTION ALERT!
PLEASE CONTACT YOUR STATE SENATOR
TO OPPOSE LB 496
LB 496 would allow for police to collect DNA samples upon the arrest of an individual for an arbitrary list of felony crimes. This would allow for the automatic collection of DNA evidence without the state having to show probable cause prior to collecting the sample.
This would give the police authority to collect and compile DNA samples of innocent people without their consent or court order.
This bill will be debated before the full Legislature next Tuesday, January 18 and Wednesday, January 19.
If you oppose such a bill, contact your state senators to urge them NOT TO SUPPORT LB 496!
