Please remember that Signers must have current, unexpired, valid, government issued identification for the Notary Public. Passport, Driver's License or Senior Identification are most common. Help our older folks keep up-to-date ID's especially before a hospital visit or changes in luving arrangements. Thank you.

June 2023: as a reminder, if you need the services of a WA Notary Public, you MUST be ready to present valid, current photo identification. That can be a government issued Driver's License, a government issued Identification Card or a government issued Passport. This does not have to be issued in Washington state; however, it must be current or have been issued within the last 5 years.
Does your older relative need to get an updated Photo ID? I highly recommend that you arrange for them to get a Photo Identification available from the WA Dept of Licensing; especially if they are no longer driving or their mobility is getting restricted.
Notary Publics want to help and be of service. It is difficult to complete the Notorial Act when the Signer does not have valid identification.
Yes, there are times when "personal knowledge" of the Signer will work... but I couldn't possibly personally know that many people!!

January 2023. Starting out this year with 2 delightful Signings! Both entailed elderly signers: one a veteran and the other a dementia client. I respond to mobile Notary Public requests within a 30 mile radius (or so) of Olympia, WA. I enjoy helping people and try to respond as quickly as possible. PLEASE remember to have your valid, current identification with you. No ID, no Notary work! Acceptable forms of ID in WA state: Driver's License, Passport or some government issued ID.
