We officially wrapped up our 3-Day Estate Planning Seminar on Saturday afternoon, welcoming over 100 attendees throughout our breakfast, lunch, and dinner sessions!

Prenuptial Agreements: It’s protection, not personal.

We discuss how prenuptial agreements are often misunderstood as negative, but they're actually about protection. I share insights from the founder of Morgan & Morgan Law Firm having spouses of his children sign prenups to keep family wealth within the bloodline. In states like Mississippi and Tennessee, you can't disinherit a spouse, so without a prenup, assets may go to a spouse instead of staying in the family. It's not personal—it's about ensuring your legacy stays where you intend.

One of the easiest ways to lose heir property (family property that has never been probated) is due to unpaid property taxes.

That being said, paying property taxes does NOT convey ownership. However, continued nonpayment and inattention will.

Irrevocable Trusts: It’s Addition, Not Opposition.

There’s a common misconception about irrevocable trusts. People often think of them as the opposite of revocable trusts, but that’s wrong. Instead, think of your foundational plan—either a will or a revocable living trust—and then add irrevocable trusts on top. It’s revocable plus irrevocable or will plus irrevocable, not revocable versus irrevocable.
