Had an awesome time tonight keeping Tennessee's side of the border safe with Dan Cain for Constable, Tennessee Highway Patrol and other local agencies that are a part of the Tennessee Highway Safety Office at the Hands Across the Border Checkpoint with the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

SCAM Alert please share. This has been getting text to people in the area trying to make people pay. Although a good fake, if you look at the state seal closely you will see it is AI generated. Their is no defendant name so it is generic and can be sent to a lot of people at once. The courts will not be texting you something like this. It is impossible to track down the cell numbers and most are stolen numbers from ghosting apps. Best thing to do is block them and report as spam to cut down on how many it affects.

District 2 folks, regarding lowered speeds for roads not marked that are the countywide limit that is too fast on some roads and vegetation at Intersections. This is your chance. Bear in mind this does not cover the state roads.

Attempted Murder Suspect In Custody
Public Information Statement

Date: February 13, 2026

On February 13, 2026,David Rodriguez Cruz was taken into custody following a coordinated law enforcement operation within the City of Athens.

The apprehension was conducted without incident after officers executed established tactical and safety procedures. No injuries to officers or members of the public were reported during the operation.

Mr. Cruz was taken into custody and transported for processing. The case remains under investigation and additional details, including potential charges, will be released as they become available and appropriate under Tennessee law.

As with all cases, Mr. Cruz is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Another look around at 6:30 pm. Horns Creek, Cookson Creek down to Ball Play and around Browder. Back roads are very sketchy and starting to re-freeze. Cookson Creek is by far the worst. Again anything slush will freeze when traffic quits moving. 411 South of 64 is surprisingly good. TDOT has most of the slush all the way out of the road. 4 Lane 411 still has a lot of slush that will freeze at our 17 degrees and it will get colder. Stay home, if you must go, please go slow and be safe.
