Thinking about speaking with a bankruptcy attorney but unsure how to prepare?

A little information can help your attorney better understand your situation. If available, consider gathering:

• Recent pay stubs or other income information
• A general list of your debts and creditors
• An estimate of your monthly household expenses
• Any questions or concerns you want to discuss

Most importantly, your paperwork does not need to be perfectly organized—and you do not need to have every document before contacting an attorney. Your first conversation is an opportunity to ask questions, understand your options, and learn what information may be needed next.

You do not have to figure everything out before asking for help.

Ready to take the first step? Contact W M Law to schedule a bankruptcy consultation. We’re here to help you move forward with clarity and without judgment.

Preparedness isn’t just about having supplies ready for an emergency. It can also mean making sure your family knows your wishes and has the legal authority needed to act on your behalf.

During National Preparedness Month, take a moment to review these important parts of your estate plan:

• Your will reflects your current wishes
• Your powers of attorney name the right decision-makers
• Your healthcare directive clearly communicates your preferences
• Your beneficiary designations are accurate and up to date

Life changes—including marriage, divorce, a new child, a move or the loss of a loved one—may mean it is time to revisit your plan.

When did you last review your estate plan?

If you are unsure whether your documents still reflect your wishes, contact W M Law to schedule an estate-planning consultation. We’re here to help you prepare for the future with confidence.

Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

Our dogs are part of the family—but they cannot directly inherit property. Thoughtful estate planning can help make sure they are cared for if you become incapacitated or pass away.

Your plan may address:

🐾 Who you would trust to care for your dog
🐾 A backup caregiver if your first choice cannot serve
🐾 Funds that may be available for food, veterinary care, and other needs
🐾 Important details about medications, routines, and preferences
🐾 Whether a pet trust or other planning option may be appropriate

Today is a good reminder to consider every member of your family—including the ones with four paws.

The right approach depends on your circumstances and applicable law.

Have you included your pets in your estate plan?

You carefully chose someone to serve as executor—but what happens if that person cannot or does not want to serve when the time comes?

Your will does not simply stop working.

If you named an alternate executor, that person may be considered next. If no named person is willing and eligible to serve, the probate court may appoint someone according to applicable state law.

This is one reason a thoughtful estate plan should include:

✓ A first-choice executor
✓ At least one alternate
✓ Periodic reviews as relationships and circumstances change

Naming a backup can help reduce uncertainty and provide clearer direction for the people you leave behind.

Does your will name a current and willing backup executor? Contact W M Law to schedule a free estate-planning consultation.

Medical debt can become overwhelming—even when the care was necessary and unexpected. Can bankruptcy help?

In many cases, it may.

Medical bills are generally treated as unsecured debt. Depending on your eligibility and circumstances:

• Chapter 7 may discharge qualifying medical debt.
• Chapter 13 may include medical bills in a structured repayment plan.
• Filing bankruptcy generally pauses most collection efforts through the automatic stay.

Bankruptcy is not one-size-fits-all. The appropriate option may depend on your income, assets, other debts, and financial goals.

If medical bills are affecting your ability to keep up, learning about your options can be a helpful first step.

Struggling with medical bills and other debt? Contact W M Law to learn whether bankruptcy may be an option for your situation.

What an unforgettable day! 🏁💚

W M Law was proud to support the Kansas City Automotive Museum’s Kids Autocross—an incredible event that gave children with disabilities the opportunity to take the wheel and experience the excitement of driving for themselves.

We were also honored to see the event featured on KCTV5 and to have Jeff Wagoner interviewed about why this experience is so meaningful for the participating children and their families.

Our Toy Story-inspired golf cart took home first prize, and the kids absolutely loved it! 🏆 But the real reward was seeing their smiles, excitement and confidence as they made their way around the course.

Thank you to the Kansas City Automotive Museum, KCTV5, the volunteers and everyone who helped create such a memorable day. You’ve got a friend in W M Law!

Children who may never have the opportunity to drive a real car on their own got the chance to take the wheel in Kansas City on Saturday.
