ESPECIALLY if you have nothing to hide. They serve you, not the other way around. There are three things to say to a police officer: 1. Am I under arrest? 2. OK, then, can I go now? I want my lawyer. Then SHUT UP! shutting up is using your right to remain silent.

75% of the police reports that I deal with say that my client "confessed" to the crime. But when I talk to my client they don't say that they confessed, they say that they tried to explain things to the officer. Just Shut Up! Be Patient. Wait for your lawyer to arrive. Officer Sappington responded to the area of 1300 E. Maple this afternoon to take a larceny report of a bicycle. This bike belonged to 4 year old, Ethan. He had left his bike on the front porch of his house overnight. Surveillance camera shows a female walking onto their porch and taking his bike at 6:11 a.m. Officer Sappington and the rest of the dayshift crew checked the area for the stolen bike, but couldn't locate it. The shift took it upon themselves and bought Ethan a new bike. I don't know about you, but that is one happy kid! Great work guys!
