CDR's Bart Jay Robey will be speaking on the topic of litigation tactics in the COVID-19 pandemic era at the Claims Litigation Management Annual Conference in Atlanta on August 12.

CLM is dedicated to meeting the professional development needs of the claims and litigation management industries. The annual conference brings together claims and litigation professionals for more than 100 educational sessions focused on all facets of the industry.

Robey will be participating in a roundtable discussion regarding nationwide trends in both courts and claims handling. Also discussed will be how the pandemic-related court slowdown has impacted the defense bar and how structured settlements may be used as a negotiating tool.

Glad to welcome aboard Meagon R. Eagon as our newest associate. Meagan actually joined the firm right before the pandemic quarantine, so her first "office" was from home via Zoom. Oklahoma's spring storm season is right around the corner, so it's not too late to prepare. For large or small business, it's advisable to do some things *now*: 1. Know your insurance policy's coverage and required procedures for reporting a claim; 2. Establish your plan and responsibilities of employees in case of a disaster; 3. Designate someone to communicate directly with an insurance adjusting team; 4. Back up your computer data and use the cloud if possible; 5. Take stock of your assets -- do you have a good inventory of all your equipment, supplies, etc.?

The Oklahoma Supreme Court has declared unconstitutional a state law capping pain and suffering damages in personal injury lawsuits. See the article about this court opinion by CDR's Michael Duncan at the link to NonDoc below.

Oklahoma's Supreme Court invalidated a lawsuit cap on noneconomic damages, rolling back a major component of tort reform pushed by business leaders.
