The passing of Jose Guadalupe Ramos-Solano marks the 47th death in ICE custody during the Trump administration's second term.

That's over 3 human lives taken every month.

2026 is already on track to be the deadliest year in detention ever.

On average just this year alone, a person dies in detention ​**every 6 days.**

Drawing attention to the horrifyingly cruel conditions in detention centers is one critical step in the larger journey. We must fight to end immigration detention and abolish this deadly enforcement system that upends lives and inflicts traumatic pain - at least, for those that make it out alive.

Our thoughts are with the families still awaiting their fate in custody and with those who mourn the loss of their loved ones.

We must find our humanity again.
