"Jingle Bells" was originally written about celebrating Thanksgiving, not Christmas.”

You might assume that a song describing a one-horse open sleigh is about Christmas, but "Jingle Bells" was originally written to celebrate Thanksgiving, according to the Washington Post.

The song, written by James Lord Pierpont in 1857, was also originally titled "One Horse Open Sleigh," not "Jingle Bells."

"Jingle Bells" was also the first song played in space.

According to the Guinness World Records, the first song ever played in space was "Jingle Bells" on December 16, 1965.

Astronauts Walter Schirra and Tom Stafford used a harmonica and a bell — also the first instruments in space — to perform the song aboard NASA's Gemini 6A space flight, the BBC reported. It was part of a prank — they claimed the music was coming from a strange, flying object that looked a lot like Santa Claus.

Italian Vegetable Soup
Serves 8
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes

Meal planning tips: You can use any pasta and any beans that you like for this recipe. Serve with rolls or garlic bread.

4 cups of water
4 teaspoons chicken seasoning
2 large tomatoes, chopped and seeded (1 cup)
2 medium carrots, sliced (1 cup)
1 medium stalk celery, sliced (1/2 cup)
1 medium onion, chopped (1/2)
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
1 1/2 teaspoons fresh basil or 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1 whole bay leaf
1/2 cup uncooked macaroni
1 15-ounce can of red or white kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1/4 cup green beans, cut
2 small zucchini, cut into 1-inch slices (2 cups)

1. In a large saucepan, heat water, vegetables or chicken seasoning, tomatoes, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, parsley, basil, salt and bay leaf to boiling. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer 15 minutes.
2. Stir in macaroni, beans, green beans and zucchini. Heat to boil, reduce heat. Cover and simmer 10 to 15 minutes, or until macaroni and vegetables are tender. Remove bay leaf. Serve warm.

Ingredients
8 corn tortillas or tostada shells
3 medium tomatoes diced
4 medium avocados diced
3 tbsp red onion finely chopped
1/4 cup cilantro finely chopped
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp chili powder
3/4 tsp salt
Juice of 1 lime
15 oz can low sodium black beans drained and rinsed
3 cups shredded chicken like rotisserie or chicken breast
1/2 cup feta or Cotija cheese crumbled
Cooking spray I use Misto
