I am elated by this update! The Pacific Bridge Club (PBC) is an organization whose mission is to use traveling abroad as a tool for developing and supporting 9th-12th grade men of East Oakland. Founded by Jonathan Guy, a teacher at Oakland’s Castlemont High School, the PBC took 16 high school students to China in May 2018. In 2017 the Kazan McClain Partners’ Foundation donated $10,000 as initial “seed money” to the Pacific Bridge Club which helped launch their fundraising drive for their trip to China. I'm happy to report the students loved their travel experience and the program has had overwhelming student interest for their planned 2019 trip to China.
In Xian, we visited the Terracotta Soldiers, the City Wall and the Muslim Quarter. Students shopped and engaged with the community but the highlights of Xian was bonding and assimilating with China's forgotten cultures in the Muslim City. Many students felt a common theme with their lives and th...
