Spread the word: Vote NO on Prop 22. As part of our work advocating to make Lyft, DoorDash, Uber, and other transportation corporations pay you fairly, we urge you to encourage your friends to vote AGAINST the corporate-sponsored Proposition 22. Proposition 22 will decrease drivers’ pay and strip them of important protections in existing California law, like paid sick leave, unemployment insurance, reimbursement for expenses, and more.
Lyft, Uber, & DoorDash wrote Prop 22 to protect their profits. Lyft, Uber, DoorDash, and other corporations have spent nearly $200 million on a campaign of lies to pass Prop 22. You’ve probably seen the ads and texts. They’re trying to tell you that Prop 22 is needed for job flexibility and benefits. This is false!
Current law is better, and it already allows flexibility. Corporations like Lyft, Uber, and DoorDash have the power to provide job flexibility and benefits AND obey the law now. But that is inconvenient for them, and it decreases corporate profits. So they are spending $200 million to trick Californians into giving these corporations an exemption from California law, so that they don’t have to give you full employee rights. They’re continuing to choose to ignore California law so that they can pay themselves more instead of paying you and other drivers fairly.
Prop 22 would drive your hourly wage down to under $6/hour. A UC Berkeley Labor Center study found that Prop 22 would allow Lyft, Uber, and others to get away with paying you only $5.64/hour, even though the California minimum wage is $12.00/hour and rising yearly, and local minimum wages are even higher.
