Whether you're already helping behind the scenes or just starting to have "what if" conversations, here are 3 things every family caregiver should know before a crisis hits:

1️⃣ You need legal authority to act on your parent's behalf.
Without a valid Power of Attorney and Health Care Proxy in place, you may not be able to access medical records, manage finances, or make critical decisions, especially if your parent becomes incapacitated.

2️⃣ Long-term care planning starts before care is needed.
Medicaid is one of the few alternatives to privately paying for long-term care costs, but eligibility is strict and looks back five years.
Early planning can help protect assets while still qualifying for benefits.

3️⃣ Caregiving affects the entire family, and so does poor planning.
Without clear legal documents and a financial strategy in place, caregiving often leads to confusion, tension, and stress among siblings and extended family. A thoughtful estate plan can ease those burdens.

If you're starting to support an aging parent, or know that season is coming soon, it's time to start planning. We're here to help you do it the right way.💜

Some of the biggest legacies start with a simple thought: "There has to be a better way."💡

Innovation isn't just about inventing the next big thing. It's about solving problems, improving processes, creating opportunities, and making life a little easier for the people around you.

If you've ever had an idea for a business, a product, a service, or a better way of doing something, don't dismiss it too quickly.

A few ways to start building an innovation legacy:
✨ Pay attention to the problems and frustrations you encounter every day
✨ Keep a running list of ideas instead of assuming you'll remember them
✨ Ask yourself, "How could this be done better?"
✨ Test small ideas before waiting for the perfect solution

💙 Save this to come back to, and follow along to build your legacy!

Probate is a process, not a single event.

When someone passes away, there are often several legal and administrative steps that need to happen before assets can be distributed to beneficiaries.

While every estate is different, probate typically follows a series of stages, from filing the initial paperwork with the court to paying debts, gathering assets, and eventually distributing what remains.

Understanding these stages can make the process more approachable, whether you're a personal representative, beneficiary, or just curious about legal procedures.

Swipe through to see the typical stages of probate and what happens during each one. ➡️

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is that getting married automatically means everything is protected and will seamlessly pass to a spouse.

But being married doesn't automatically answer questions like:
• Who can manage your finances if you're incapacitated?
• Who can make medical decisions on your behalf?
• What happens if beneficiary designations are outdated?
• What happens to assets that don't transfer automatically?
• Who would care for your children if something happened to both of you?

Without the proper legal documents in place, your loved ones may face unnecessary delays, court involvement, confusion, and stress during an already difficult time.

For most married couples, we recommend having:

✅ A Will or Trust
✅ Durable Power of Attorney
✅ Health Care Proxy
✅ HIPAA Authorization
✅ Updated beneficiary designations
✅ Guardianship nominations for minor children

An estate plan isn't just about what happens when you pass away.

It's about protecting each other while you're alive, creating a plan for the unexpected, and making life easier for the people you love.

If you've been relying on marriage alone for protection, it may be time for a conversation.

Schedule a discovery call with our team and let's make sure your plan actually matches your goals. 💙

No matter the tone, the message stays the same: Start. The. Estate. Plan.😉

Because having a plan in place is a whole lot easier than leaving your family to figure everything out later.

A community is only as strong as the people who show up for it.💙

If you want to be more intentional about building this type of legacy, start by asking yourself:
✨ What cause or issue do I care deeply about?
✨ How can I use my time, skills, or experience to help?
✨ Is there a local organization I can support?
✨ Who could benefit from guidance, mentorship, or encouragement?

Community legacy isn't built through one big act. It's built one relationship, one contribution, and one act of service at a time.

And sometimes, the greatest impact you leave behind is on people who aren't related to you at all.

A few important things to talk about 👇

➡️ “Do you already have estate planning documents in place?”
Ask about: Power of Attorney, Healthcare Proxy, Will or Trust, HIPAA forms

➡️ “Where are important documents kept?”
Families should know where to find: legal documents, insurance policies, account information, passwords, deeds/titles

➡️ “What are your wishes if more care is needed later?”
This may include: staying at home, assisted living, caregiving preferences, financial concerns

➡️ “Who should help make decisions if needed?”
It’s important to talk about trusted decision-makers before a crisis happens.

➡️ “What does your financial picture generally look like?”
Not to control it, but to help avoid confusion and stress later.

➡️ “Is there anything you’re worried about that we haven’t talked about yet?”
Sometimes this opens the door to the conversations people have been avoiding.

These conversations can feel uncomfortable, but having them early often creates more peace, clarity, and support later on.

Save this for later or share it with someone navigating this season with a parent they love.💙
