Our Story
Martha McLean is a sole practitioner focusing on estate planning, elder law, probate, deed preparation, evictions, LLC/corporate setup, and family cases. She takes on other matters on a case-by-case basis. Her practice is based on Main Street in historic downtown Norway, Maine. The McLean law practice is grounded in the philosophy that a successful law firm is one that balances experience and legal expertise with integrity, diligence and attention to detail.
Prior to founding McLean Law, Martha was an associate at Hanley and Associates in South Paris, where she gained a broad range of legal and trial experience and specialized in estate planning. Before that, she worked at the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic in Portland, where she represented low income clients in a variety of cases, including divorce, protection from abuse, criminal defense, and immigration.
Martha earned her JD from the University of Maine School of Law. She has a Masters in Education from the University of Southern Maine and a Bachelors from Villanova. She is fluent in Spanish and Danish and has lived in Central America, Europe and the Middle East.
Prior to earning her law degree, Martha was a compassionate and energetic teacher at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. Martha began her professional career as an instructor at the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, where she specialized in conflict resolution and mediation with at risk youth.
Martha is an active member of the local community, and serves on several Boards. She is the President of the Board of the Oxford County Cooperative Extension and a member of the School Board for SAD 44. She served for ten years as a volunteer for Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice.
