Did you know? Child custody isn’t a "one-and-done" decision made only during a divorce. ⚖️
Here are two facts about custody law that catch many parents by surprise:
1️⃣ Post-Decree Changes: Even after a marriage legally ends, custody issues can be revisited. If life changes, the court retains the power to enforce or modify parenting time anytime before your child is emancipated.
2️⃣ Unmarried Parents: In Ohio, an unmarried mother has sole legal custody from birth. An unmarried father must file a formal request in court to establish a parental relationship, ask for parenting time, or get decision-making power.
Paying child support alone does not guarantee visitation.
The legal system can be complicated, but you don't have to navigate it alone. Let’s make sure your rights—and your children—are protected.
