New Social Security Administrator's Heartless Action!

Nobody gets rich off of their Social Security Payments. Sometimes, there are overpayments. Usually, an overpayment is due to the SSA's own fault. For years, SSA has recouped overpayments at the rate of 10% per monthly payment. Effective later this month, the new SS Administrator changes that to 100% of the recipient's monthly payment: https://www.ssa.gov/news/press/releases/2025/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery #2025-03-07-a . This is supposedly a part of the efforts to make Federal agencies more efficient. Instead, this heartless action will force the elderly and disabled into dire straights and will increase the demands on State and local service agencies that are already spread too thin.
