Not every potential client is the right fit—and that’s by design.

I recently had someone cancel a consultation because I wouldn’t allow a new spouse to be fully involved throughout the case.

Let me be clear: that wasn’t a loss.

Attorney-client privilege isn’t a suggestion—it’s protection. And it can be weakened (or even waived) when third parties are in the room… yes, even spouses and family members (with limited exceptions).

I understand people want support. I really do.

But bringing others into legal conversations can:
• Add unnecessary stress
• Complicate confidentiality
• Blur communication
• Undermine legal strategy

That’s not helpful—it’s risky.

My job isn’t to make everyone in the room comfortable.
My job is to protect my client.

If that means setting boundaries that some people don’t like, I’m okay with that.

Because the right clients don’t push back on protection—they expect it.
