Cargo vans and heavy duty work trucks may not be performing as well as passenger vehicles when it comes to crash avoidance.

New IIHS testing found that many commercial vehicles received marginal or poor ratings for front crash prevention, including their ability to detect other vehicles, motorcycles, and pedestrians. Some vehicles also struggled to recognize children in the roadway.

For businesses and drivers, the findings are an important reminder that safety technology can vary widely from one vehicle to another.
