Most people see a squash blossom. A gardener sees the beginning of a harvest.

The same is true in a case. A single photograph. A passing comment in a medical record. A witness everyone else overlooked.

Small details often become the facts that matter most.

Thank you, Dorothy D.

You deserved someone who would keep fighting when the defendant had already decided what they thought your claim was worth.

Every client deserves a fine fight!

AAJ’s Minority Caucus Lobby Days are almost here.

Register before THIS FRIDAY to join trial lawyers from across the country in helping shape legislation affecting both our clients and the civil justice system. You do not need prior lobbying experience to participate — authenticity is what matters.

It’s a truly special opportunity to help move the profession forward. In a profession where everyone is busy, I always admire the number of trial lawyers who somehow manage to balance demanding practices, leadership roles, and still continue showing up to advocate not only for our own clients, but for the justice system as a whole.

One of those people who will be in DC next week is Petra Aaron.

Petra is a Senior Trial Attorney at GDH Law, a leader within AAJ, a mentor, and someone who still finds time to invest in important advocacy efforts like Lobby Days. Lawyers like Petra are a reminder that showing up matters — and that protecting the civil justice system requires all of us to stay involved.

Participants receive legislative briefings, lobbying training, and team meetings on Capitol Hill, so whether this is your first Lobby Days or your tenth, AAJ makes the process approachable and meaningful.

📍 Washington, DC
📅 May 19–20
🎟️ Free to attend
⏰ THIS FRIDAY is the last day to register.

A few months ago, I wrote about the opioid crisis and the Fourth Circuit’s ruling that offered hope for accountability. It’s no secret this issue is deeply personal to me. It's something I pay close attention to as these cases continue to unfold.

New reporting has made it clear that many victims are still being left behind. People are now being denied compensation, not because their harm isn’t real, but because they can’t produce decades-old records.

I’ve updated my article to reflect what’s happening now and the very real barriers victims are facing.
