Recently, the state of Oregon announced that they will pay $1.3 million in late fees to home-workers who were affected by the statewide software glitch. For seven months, about 4,000 home-care workers were receiving late or incomplete payments due to a glitch in the state software program. All of those workers will now receive their proper payments. On March 24, 2022, the Harris County Jail’s “Jweb” system was not operational for 50 hours. During that time, between 280 to 300 defendants waited to see a magistrate for their probable cause hearing but did not due to the system failure. On March 15, 2022, genomics company Illumina Inc sued Guardant Health’s founders for allegedly stealing Illumina’s trade secrets. The two founders of Guardant Health are former Illumina employees who supposedly stole thousands of confidential documents containing company secrets on over 35 patents. Recently, Comprehensive Health Services (CHS) settled with The United States Department of Justice, agreeing to a $930,000 settlement, resolving False Claim allegations, and being the first settlement for the DOJ since the Civil Cyber-Fraud Initiative. The case claimed that CHS poorly represented the State Department and Air Force's electronic medical record (EMR) standards by not storing patient records securely.
