The quadcopter drone, which buzzes over parks and bothers airplanes today, was first patented in 1962. The first instrument to function in the event of a power failure was designed by ๐๐๐ฐ๐๐ซ๐ ๐. ๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ซ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ, an at ๐๐ข๐๐ฌ๐๐๐ค๐ข ๐๐ข๐ซ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง.
Then Vanderlip came up with the idea of integrating pilot-friendly flight systems into a small, remotely-operated rotary aircraft. An "๐จ๐ฆ๐ง๐ข๐๐ข๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ, ๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐๐๐ฅ-๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ญ, ๐ก๐๐ฅ๐ข๐๐จ๐ฉ๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐" patent outlines a UAV that is"๐๐ฑ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ฆ๐๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐" to operate. Four lift rotors are arranged in pairs at opposite ends of the drone so that the vertical axis of tilt is always perpendicular to the ground. This allows the to tilt its rotors and fly in any direction while maintaining a level platform.
