MRM Partner, James S. Arrabito was happy to attend the Orange County Partnership Golf Outing last week alongside so many business and community leaders from across the Hudson Valley.

It was a great day for networking, relationship building, and supporting an organization that continues to drive economic growth throughout the region (and the golf ball cannon was definitely a crowd favorite).

Driving While Ability Impaired (DWAI) may be the least severe alcohol-related offense under New York law, but don’t let that label fool you. The consequences can still be significant, and charges involving ma*****na or other drugs can rise to the level of a criminal offense.

In Part 1 of a 3-part series, MRM Associate, Adam J. Thomas breaks down New York’s Vehicle & Traffic Law, explains the key differences between alcohol and drug-related impairment, and walks through what you need to know if you’re facing a charge.

If you or someone you know has questions about DWAI, understanding your rights is the first step. Read the full article on our website:

A DWAI conviction is classified as a traffic violation, not a crime. Nevertheless, it carries serious legal and personal consequences.

Proud moment for MRM! Partner Michelle Rider, Chair of the Ulster Savings Bank Foundation, recently presented grant checks to two incredible organizations: Abilities First and NEWBURGH COMMUNITY LAND BANK INC.

Abilities First supports individuals with developmental disabilities through education, employment, and community programs, while Newburgh Community Land Bank revitalizes neighborhoods by restoring vacant properties and creating affordable housing opportunities.

Through its ongoing commitment to supporting education, housing, and essential community services, the Foundation continues to make a meaningful local impact and we’re proud to see Michelle helping lead that effort.

Pictured below are Michelle along with Marcy Handler and JoAnn Parker CFRE with Abilities First and Jennifer Welles from the Newburgh Community Land Bank.

This afternoon we pressed pause for a little fika because even in a busy law firm, a good coffee break is non-negotiable. ☕

Huge thanks to Sunday Brew for keeping us fueled with incredible coffee and matcha…which sparked some debate: refreshing or just a little too earthy? Jury’s still out.

Good conversation, great drinks, and a reminder that sometimes the best ideas happen when you step away from your desk.

If you’re waiting on answers about an estate or trust and getting silence, you’re not alone, and it may not mean anything is wrong.

This month MRM's Ari Bauer explains what executors and trustees are actually required to disclose in New York, the difference between informal and court-supervised accountings, and what you can do if you’re not getting the information you need.

In a recent article, Mahon Rider McKay attorney Mary Tamburri, Esq. outlined what patients, families, and advisors need to know about New York’s newly enacted Medical Aid in Dying Act.

The law authorizes mentally competent, terminally ill adults with a prognosis of six months or less to request and self-administer prescribed medication to bring about a peaceful death, subject to extensive procedural safeguards.

With this enactment, New York joins 13 other states and Washington, D.C. in authorizing medical aid in dying. Oregon, the first to pass such legislation in 1994, served as a model for many of the laws that followed.

This is a meaningful shift in the legal landscape; one that will require thoughtful guidance for patients, families, health care providers, and estate planning professionals alike.

Mahon Rider McKay was once again a sponsor of the Cosimo DiBrizzi Celebrity Servers Dinner last night. This amazing event brings community leaders together for a fun evening of food, service, and friendly competition all to support a meaningful cause.

Funds raised benefit the Cosimo DiBrizzi Memorial Scholarship, which helps Hudson Valley students pursue their dreams in the culinary arts at the Culinary Institute of America, keeping alive the legacy of a beloved restaurateur and community figure.

We're proud to support opportunities that open doors for the next generation! Special shoutout to server Nicholas C. Lozito, Esq. for trading in his suit and tie for an apron.
