WOW! 10 years at Delaware Financial Mortgage. What a wild ride! I cannot believe a decade has flown by with my amazing Delaware Financial team supporting me.
Sometime in 2012 I was working in fraud at a local bank as a business analyst, and I interviewed with Amy Libonate for an LO role. The interview was great, but I was too afraid with my student loans from a private university to take a commission based job- so I passed on the opportunity.
In 2013 JPMorgan recruited me. My job was to go to Wall Street, learn the analysts reports there, and bring them back to Delaware - essentially taking peoples jobs. I loved the idea of Wall Street, finance, and working with numbers. I hated that my job was to eliminate my friends positions in NYC. In October 2014 I called Amy and told her I wanted to buy a house, and in November 2014 we made that happen.
A few months went by, I was tired of hotel stays in NYC, I was tired of my desk job, I was tired of working in finance doing something that wasn't HELPING people. So, I quit. Four mortgage payments in, I quit my comfy salary role with one of the largest banks in the world, and I called Amy and asked her to hire me.
May 2015 I started at Delaware Financial Mortgage and I have been driving Amy and Anthony crazy ever since 🙂

The best decision I made, the biggest risk i've ever taken (besides getting engaged to a stranger at a bar in key west), and its been the most rewarding career I could ever have asked for.

Helping people with the largest purchase of their life is a BIG DEAL. I love being that trusted person. I love the process of seeing a first time homebuyer reach their goals of homeownership. I love helping my friends, and their parents, and their coworkers, and total strangers, and my mom friends from facebook groups. I somehow was able to combine my love of finance with my love of helping people in my community, and I am so lucky to be in a position to say I love my job.

10 years at the same company may not seem like a big deal, but its a big deal when you work in a business of people always chasing the *next best thing*, the next big sign-on bonus, the next best lender with the newest tech, or leads, or whatever shiny objects they wave in front of us. I'm lucky to have everything I need here with Delaware Financial and I look forward to the next 10 years with my amazing team and the best family I could have asked for 🙂
