wishes all our clients and colleagues a happy and healthy New Year!
Despite the continuing challenges we are all facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic (including directly impacting our Firm early in 2021), last year was a very positive year for the Firm.
Most importantly, we have grown. In September, we welcomed Ms. Samarah Greene to the Firm. Since joining the Firm, Samarah has worked closely with Team Yacos Law to serve our clients’ diverse family and matrimonial law needs. She received her Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law in 2021 and received her bachelor’s degree from New York University in 2013. Prior to joining the Firm, she was employed as a law clerk with a well-respected matrimonial and family law firm in Boston.
Samarah also participated in the Northeastern University Domestic Violence Clinic working with survivors of domestic violence. In this role, she assisted clients in obtaining restraining orders and gained important experience in working with clients who survived trauma. Additionally, while in law school, Samarah served as a senior editor of the Law Review, interned for a federal district court judge in the Eastern District of New York during her first year of law school, and worked as a trial preparation assistant for the New York County District Attorney’s Office prior to attending law school.
John was again selected as a 2021 New York Metro Super Lawyers this past year. Also, he proudly continued serving on the Board of Directors of FamilyKind, a nonprofit organization empowering children, parents and couples before, during and after separation or divorce. Adapting to these very difficult times, John conducted several successful virtual trials in multiple counties, even as the pandemic mandated remote legal services exclusively. Also, he continued to provide informative presentations on issues of importance in the family law and matrimonial field. Be on the lookout for more in 2022.
Shari helped launch Streamlined Collaborative Divorce in New York. Shari was featured twice as an expert in an article for the Insider about celebrating holidays as divorced parents and in an article for The Exit about making the divorce process as seamless as possible. Shari was appointed to several Supreme Court Rosters to provide mediation services with the expansion of the Presumptive Alternative Dispute Resolution program throughout the state.
Stefany became a New York State Certified Paralegal. This certification, developed and managed by the Empire State Alliance of Paralegal Associations (ESAPA), recognizes paralegals whose education, training, and work experience equips them with the knowledge, skills and proficiencies to perform substantive legal work in a professional and ethical manner.
We are excited to continue moving forward and to providing high quality legal services to our clients in 2022!
