I participated in a press conference in front of City Hall last week organized by NYC Artist Coalition to rally support for a bill to create transparency on the M.A.R.C.H. program which has raided and shuttered vital cultural spaces in NYC.

"I’ve served as an attorney for a few arts spaces in Bushwick, including The Silent Barn. Since I’ve worked with these spaces I know that it is possible to comply if you have help. Unfortunately a lot of organizations and venues do not. And so what we would like from the City is instead of coming down with the gotcha heavy hand, have a dialogue with these spaces. And provide assistance. In most cases it will be possible for a lot of these places to know what they should be doing, and comply with the law," said Mike Lawrence of Lawrence Law
