Today, Chabrowe Law observes Indigenous Peoples' Day.
The legal history of this country is inseparable from its relationships with Native Nations. Under Article VI of the U.S. Constitution, treaties are part of the supreme law of the land, and tribal governments remain sovereign nations with their own laws, courts, and institutions.
We take this day to recognize Indigenous peoples, past and present, and their lasting role in shaping the laws and communities we serve.
Our office sits on Lenapehoking, the homeland of the Lenape. The Delaware Nation, the Delaware Tribe of Indians, and the Stockbridge-Munsee Community are the sovereign nations that descend from the Lenape today.
