Kaleidoscope’s first INTA conference last week in London.

From the opening remarks of President Deborah Hampton, I could feel the different energy of this community.

Collaboration over competition. Candid but respectful discourse.

Most importantly, the simple joy of sharing space with people from around the world, and all the perspectives that brings - on trademarks and everything in between.

Think you own your brand because you registered the domain? You don’t. And here’s why that’s about to cost you.
Having the domain just means you paid GoDaddy fifteen bucks. That’s it. It doesn’t give you exclusive rights to the NAME. It doesn’t stop someone else from filing a trademark on it. And it definitely doesn’t hold up in court. The only thing that actually gives you the right to stop someone from using your brand is a trademark registration. Not your domain. Not your LLC. Not your Instagram handle.
If your brand IS your business — don’t mistake buying a domain for actually owning your name. Link in bio.

One of the most common — and most expensive — mistakes I see creators make:
Owning the domain is not owning the brand. Forming the LLC is not owning the brand. Grabbing the handle is not owning the brand.
A trademark is the only thing that actually gives you legal rights to your name. Everything else is decoration.
Checklist in my bio walks you through what actually matters — before you spend money on branding, ads, or a website.

Your brand grew. Did your legal protection stay behind? 🏃💨

You started with a course. Then came the physical products. Now, you’ve got a thriving membership.

Here’s the cold, hard truth: That trademark you filed back in the “Phase 1” days? It likely only covers the specific category of goods or services you sold then.

Why that’s a problem: Trademarks aren’t a “one and done” blanket for your entire life. If you’ve expanded from digital downloads into physical apparel or a subscription community, you’re likely operating in unprotected classes. The gap actually costs you: ❌ Exclusivity: A competitor could potentially use your name for a product you now sell because your trademark didn’t cover that category. ❌ Value: If you ever want to sell your business, an incomplete trademark portfolio is a massive red flag for buyers. ❌ Security: You’re essentially building a house on land you only half-own.

Don’t wait for a “Cease and Desist” to realize you’ve outgrown your original filing. Let’s get your entire ecosystem protected.

Ready to close the gap?

📩 DM me “BRAND” and let’s audit your current offers to make sure your intellectual property is actually yours.

Your IG, your podcast, your course, your LLC… gone because someone else owned the name first.

That’s what skipping trademarks can lead to:
• Late-night panic Googling
• Paying to redo branding and websites
• Losing clients who can’t find you anymore

The ‘I’ll do it later’ tax is real.
And it’s usually more expensive than filing early and doing it right.

If you’ve already:
✅ Named your business or program
✅ Started promoting it publicly
✅ Sold anything under that name

You’re already putting your brand at risk.
