The New York Senate has already passed a bill that would ban most employment non-compete agreements for “covered individuals” earning less than $500,000 per year. It’s currently pending before the State Assembly.

If it passes, it would be one of the most sweeping non-compete bans in the country and it would directly affect how executives structure departures, talent retention, and C-suite agreements.

Whether you’re negotiating your next role or protecting your company’s competitive edge, the clock may be ticking on how useful that non-compete clause actually is.
