Jesse Strauss’s practice focuses on plaintiff side wage and hour litigation, employment law, commercial and general litigation and representing the owners, members and partners of small and medium sized business in corporate governance disputes. Jesse also maintains an active shareholder rights and corporate fraud practice, representing individual shareholders and institutional shareholders in Sec
urities Act and Securities Exchange Act litigation and derivative litigation. Jesse was selected as a 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 "Super Lawyer" by Thompson Reuters. Recently, Jesse was national coordinating counsel for 15 consumer fraud class action lawsuits against educational institutions by unemployed graduates -- ground breaking litigation that has had a profound impact on educational marketing and the debate regarding student loan debt. Jesse started his career as an associate at a major national law firm focusing on business litigation, and then served as an associate at a major plaintiffs-side securities class action law firm where he represented pension funds in complex securities fraud cases. Jesse is a former law clerk to United States District Court Judge Dora L. Irizarry in the Eastern District of New York. Jesse is admitted to New York State Courts, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Second and Sixth Circuits, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern District of New York, and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Jesse is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School (JD, Cum Laude, 2003) and the George Washington University (BA, 1999). In 2010, Jesse was inducted into the Townsend Harris High School Hall of Fame as one of the school's top 25 alumni of the last 25 years. Prior to attending law school, Jesse served as a New York City Urban Fellow in the Mayor's Office. He is a former voting member of his local Community Board, First Vice President of his local reform Democratic club, and member of the steering committee of the New York Democratic Lawyers Council. In 2007 Jesse was a volunteer in Ghana, West Africa with the American Jewish World Service. Jesse lives in Brooklyn, New York, with his wife and daughter.
