Jessup International Moot Court Competition. The 2017 U.S. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition will be held Feb. 9-12, 2017 at the offices of Shearman & Sterling LLP in New York City. The Jessup is the world's largest moot court competition, with participants from over 550 law schools in more than 87 countries. The Competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries be

fore the International Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations.

A reminder to join us this Saturday beginning at 9:00 AM EDT for the online Awards Ceremony. We'll be announcing a slate of memorial awards (including best of the White & Case International Rounds, National Rounds, and the world), administrator awards and volunteer awards. We will have a keynote address by the Hon. Richard Goldstone and opening remarks by ILSA Executive Director Lesley Benn. We will also announce a sneak peak of the 2021 Jessup topics!

We're happy to announce our judges for the Final Championship Round today including Shearman & Sterling partner, Jon Tompkins!

Jonathan Tompkins is counsel in the International Arbitration and Litigation practices.

He has represented parties in international and domestic arbitrations under the Rules of the ICC, LCIA, AAA/ICDR and DIS. His experience also includes general commercial litigation, investigations (FCPA), securities actions and other matters before state and federal courts.

Jonathan was listed as a rising star in commercial arbitration at the Euromoney LMG Americas Rising Star Awards 2018.

Also joining our Final Champiionship Round today is Ricardo Chirinos.

Ricardo is an associate at White & Case's New York office. He is a member of its international arbitration group and specializes in commercial and investment arbitration. His recent experience includes representing multinational clients in disputes against Latin-American states and State-owned companies related to investments in the oil and gas, mining, metals, food, agriculture and packaging industries.

Ricardo is admitted in Venezuela and New York. Trained in both civil and common law, he obtained his law degree cm laude from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in 2005. Ricardo also obtained an LL.M. degree from Columbia Law School where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and Smith Fellow. He speaks Spanish, English and Portuguese.

Before joining White & Case, Ricardo was an associate at a major global law firm in Washington D.C. and New York and at Venezuela's top oil and gas firm. In 2016, he also worked as a legal advisor of Judge O. Thomas Johnson at the Iran-U.S. Claims Tribunal in The Hague.

Ricardo is a member of the list of arbitrators of the Caracas Chamber and the Centro Empresarial de Conciliación y Arbitraje (CEDCA) and was recently appointed as president of the New York Chapter of the Inter-American Bar Association (IABA).

We're happy to introduce you to Amity Boye who will be serving as one of three Final Championship Round judges today from 1:30-3:30PM.

Amity is a lawyer admitted to practice in Florida and New York. She is currently the chief of staff to the chairman of the global law firm White & Case. Prior to this position, she served for four years as the Executive Director of the International Law Students Association, the non-profit organization that administers the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Amity is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School and a former clerk of the Florida Supreme Court.

Dear Jessup Friends, Welcome to 2020!

We warmly invite you to join us in New York City to judge the U.S. Northeast Regional of the Jessup International Moot Court Competition from 21-23 February.

Once again, rounds will be generously hosted by Shearman & Sterling LLP at their New York Office, 599 Lexington Avenue (between East 52nd and East 53rd Streets). We are grateful for our host’s continued support of the competition and for the time you give to ensure our competitors are judged by professionals well-versed in international law.
