He was always available to counsel clients and colleagues on all types of matters, always putting them first. Our firm has benefited greatly from his experience, wisdom and loyalty. He will be sorely missed and never forgotten.

Richard joined the firm in 2012, practicing in a broad range of corporate and trust and estates areas, having spent most of his career at large New York law firms. In his more than six decades of practice Richard was involved in dozens of licensing, financing, business acquisition and disposition transactions, as well as public offerings. Our firm has benefited greatly from his experience and mentoring over the last eleven years, and he will be missed.

Mollie Lustig, a partner at McLaughlin & Stern, was recently quoted in an article by NJ Spotlight News discussing a draft of New Jersey’s new rules for cannabis consumption lounges. While recreational cannabis is legal in NJ, the rules for cannabis-related businesses are still in the works. The newly drafted rules would lay out the regulations for cannabis consumption lounges in the state for the first time. Mollie Lustig emphasized that lounges that wish to open under these rules would be subject to air filtration standards similar to cigar lounges. Businesses that fail to meet these standards could face substantial legal liability.

Mollie Lustig, a partner at McLaughlin & Stern, participated in a panel at the Eighth Annual C. Clyde Ferguson Jr. Symposium. The panel, “OUT: An Attempt at Clemency Through Ma*****na Pardons,” focused on clemency for prisoners serving sentences for ma*****na-related convictions, particularly on President Biden’s call for governors to pardon people convicted of low-level ma*****na crimes. Mollie Lustig was joined on the panel by Nkechi Taifa, President & CEO of The Taifa Group LLC, Founder & Director of Reparation Education Project, Inc.; and Cat Packer, Director of Drug Markets & Legal Regulation, Drug Policy Alliance, Vice Chair, Cannabis Regulators of Color Coalition.

Susan Ramsey, a partner with the Firm, wrote an article for Trial, a magazine published by the American Association of Justice, on the need for substance abuse treatment centers to better screen their staff members and protect residents from sexual assault. Ms. Ramsey represented a patient in a civil lawsuit against a drug treatment center where her client was staying. A staff member sexually assaulted the patient, and when she reported the incident, she was told to keep quiet or she would be kicked out of the facility.
