The partners and staff of Queller, Fisher, Washor, Fuchs & Kool wish everyone a safe and Happy Halloween. Please follow Our Spooky Safety Suggestions to ensure the best and safest experience possible:

1. Always accompany young children on their neighborhood rounds, especially after dark.

2. If you have older children who insist on trick-or-treating alone, talk to them about where they will be and when to expect them home.

3. Make sure your children's cellular devices can be located by you at all times.

4. Remind your children about the risks of distracted walking.

5. Be safe crossing the street and try to do so as a group in established crosswalks.

6. After dark, stay on well-lit streets and carry a light of some kind.

7. Trick-or-treat in well-traveled areas with sidewalks if possible.

8. Tell your children to never enter a home or car for a treat. Make sure your child knows how to call 9-1-1 if they ever need to.

9. Make sure your sidewalk and front walk is free from tripping hazards.

10. Check to make sure your outdoor lights are working.

11. Clean your path/walking area of wet leaves.

12. Have your pets confined or restrained so they do not jump on trick-or-treaters.

A magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook buildings across the New York City region shortly after 10:20 a.m. Friday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.
