Thank you so much, for welcoming me into your NYLS Entertainment Law class and giving me the opportunity to share my career experience with your students.

When I was a law student and young lawyer, the insight of more experienced attorneys was invaluable and I was always so grateful for those who were open to building meaningful connections and relationships and really invested in my journey and success. It truly made all the difference. So it brings me great pride to be in a position now where I can pay it forward and be that mentor to younger attorneys.

Running a business is stressful… heck - just living life can be stressful.

Today is World Mental Health Day, so it’s the perfect time to stop, take a breath, and really take stock of how you’re treating yourself.

Make sure you’re carving out time in your day, or at least week, to take care of yourself. Whether that means moving your body, meditating, reading, or doing something that relaxes you like baking, reading, playing with your dog, or watching terrible reality TV (my personal favorites).

Remember: you can’t pour from an empty cup. Dedicating time to keeping yourself mentally balanced and well will only increase your productivity and the quality of what you put into your work and your relationships.

None of this is to say that taking care of your mental health is as easy as taking a bubble bath or doing a face mask. I have personally struggled with anxiety and depression in the past and have relied on the support of professionals as well as holistic and spiritual methodologies to feel my best.

If you’re going through it right now, I highly recommend checking out as a first step as well as seeking out professional help in the form of therapy or psychotherapy. You might be surprised at how much better you’re capable of feeling with just a little dedication to your mental well-being. 😌

Theatre was my first love. I grew up performing in shows, singing, dancing competitively, and attending theatre camp. Even my first jobs after law school were in-house with a Broadway/off-Broadway production company and then, as a talent agent representing tv/film/commercial actors.

In pursuing law, I knew I had to practice in an area that enabled me to stay connected to creative industries.

As an IP attorney, not only do I get to work with performers, artists, fashion designers, authors, and other creatives to protect their work and brands, I also get to be an integrated part of the creative branding development process along with business owners in all industries.
