Each year, the Tendy Competition honors the legacy of William M. Tendyโ€”a Fordham Law alum and longtime prosecutor in the U.S. Attorneyโ€™s Office for the Southern District of New Yorkโ€”whose career was defined by integrity, discipline, and a deep commitment to public service.

This intraschool โ€œironmanโ€ tournament challenges competitors to prepare and present both sides of a federal criminal case. Preliminary rounds take place in the Southern District of New York courthouse, where students advocate before distinguished members of the bench and bar, including federal prosecutors, defenders, and judges who reflect Mr. Tendyโ€™s enduring legacy.

We are proud to carry on this tradition and showcase the strength of Fordhamโ€™s trial advocacy program. Special thanks to our 2026 Tendy Editors, Sheeba Pawar and Jennifer Chen, for their leadership and dedication in making this competition possible.
Best of luck to all competitorsโ€”we look forward to a week of exceptional advocacy.

๐Ÿ† AAJ REGIONAL CHAMPIONS ๐Ÿ†

Fordham Law and the Brendan Moore Trial Advocacy Center are incredibly proud to celebrate an extraordinary accomplishment this weekend: both our 2L and 3L teams swept the STAC American Association for Justice Regionals as champions.

Our 3L team โ€” Brianna Scarda, Chris Hayes, Gia Kim, and Alexandra Spano โ€” delivered an exceptional performance in the courtroom, demonstrating the preparation, command, and advocacy that define the Brendan Moore program. Their work throughout the competition reflected countless hours refining arguments, mastering the record, and competing with poise and precision.

Equally impressive was our 2L team โ€” Julia Hughes, Ryan Coughlan, Ross Delhagen, and Zachary Brenner โ€” who fought through a competitive regional field with relentless preparation, sharp advocacy, and true teamwork in the courtroom to bring home the championship.

This is a historic moment for Fordham, as both teams advance to AAJ Nationals together, marking the first time Fordham has sent both teams to the national stage in the same year.

A special thank you to the dedicated and brilliant coaches who made this possible.
โ€จFor the 3L team, Catherine Perrone and Jaedon Huie, whose mentorship, strategy, and tireless commitment guided the team to victory.
โ€จFor the 2L team, Sara Wiik and Rob Iodice, whose leadership and behind-the-scenes work helped shape an outstanding group of advocates.

We are beyond proud of these students and the way they represented Fordham Law.

Next stop: Nationals in New Orleans at the end of the month, where they will take on the top trial advocacy teams from around the country.

Huge congratulations to Kristen McCarthy and Zach Miller-Frankel on an outstanding performance at the Online National Competition this past weekend, finishing as Semifinalists against an incredibly competitive national field.

An even greater honor: both Kristen and Zach were named Best Advocate Award winners, an accolade reserved for only the top 10 advocates in the entire competition, which consisted of more than 130 advocates from across the country. To have two advocates earn that distinction in a single tournament speaks volumes about their skill, professionalism, and courtroom presence.

Special recognition as well to their dedicated coaches, Jordan Zaia and Madison Edwards, whose mentorship, strategy, and countless hours of preparation helped elevate this team to the national stage.

The Brendan Moore Trial Advocacy Center continues to raise the bar, and this team carried that tradition forward with excellence!
