Baby L came to visit my office and tried on the crochet dress that I made for her and it fits!

Baby L is my client's first daughter - she was about 6-7 months during her dad's green card (adjustment) interview.

Looks like she really likes her dress and I can't wait to crochet more clothes for her. She will be a fashion icon 🤩.

How do I deal with the stresses of being an immigration lawyer?

I try and make time to nourish and cultivate my creative side.

Last night, I finished this baby crochet dress for my client’s 7-month-old daughter.

When I went with her parents to their adjustment interview, her mom was about 8 and a half months pregnant, and she was just about ready to pop.

So I guess in a sense Baby L is also my client.

It’s been a gift to see her grow. Every time her parents come to visit me, I get to see a young family flourishing and a new life take shape.

This is what fuels me to continue this work.

10 years in a row 💪🏻 - thanks to my peers who nominated me.

This year has by far been the most difficult in terms of practicing as an immigration lawyer.

And I’ve been doing this for 27 years, so that’s saying something.

But I have no plans of quitting anytime soon.

That’s what the administration wants - to make things so hard that we will just give up from exhaustion and frustration.

Eff that.

Immigration is crazy right now, to say the least. but I am still getting clients approved for citizenship 🇺🇸 and green cards 💳.

Helped a client who waited for a long time before applying for naturalization.

Was by her side at her naturalization interview.

My client was sworn in later that day and sent me this photo.

It’s really and honor and a privilege that I get to do this for my clients ❤️.

Yesterday my yoga teacher was sworn in as a U.S. citizen 🙂

His naturalization application was in limbo for 4 years at USCIS.

He passed the interview and was scheduled for his oath ceremony back in 2019, but because he never received the appointment letter in the mail, wasn’t aware of the appointment.

He followed up with USCIS, to no avail. Calling USCIS was a frustrating and futile exercise, and when he went in person to inquire, he was turned away for lack of an appointment.

So I started following up on his behalf. I used every channel I could - mailed letters, phone calls, e-inquiries, and finally, liaison assistance through my AILA chapter.

It took a few months but we finally got a response from USCIS and they scheduled him for a new oath ceremony.

This one hits personally because I got my Yoga Teacher Training from him.

Made it to the SuperLawyers list - New York Metro in the field of immigration law for the 9th year in a row. Thanks to my peers who nominated me!

The election is less than 2 weeks away and there is no question that immigration will continue to be one of the most hot-button (if not the most) issues we are grappling with.

Come what may, I’m not going to to give up advocating for my clients 🙂.
