This year marks the 10th year anniversary of the founding of my firm. When I started working on my business plan to launch my own law practice 12 years ago, I had no idea that I would end up launching that venture while also growing a young family. Both endeavors – while challenging -have been incredibly rewarding.

Over the past 10 years, my firm has represented clients (both employee and management-side) in over a thousand matters across numerous industries – including finance, law, fashion, media, technology, academia, and the list goes on. Although we’ve certainly helped clients negotiate the happy beginning of employment and work deals, most of the cases we handle involve difficult breakdown of work relationships- or as I often refer to them (only half-jokingly), "business divorces." These situations all concern workers and employers trying to resolve messy separations.

As a boutique firm, we accept clients by referral only. In every interaction with clients and opponents alike, we are committed to our core value of integrity. I believe that these are reasons why we have been able to build such a solid following, and to protect the quality of our clientele & level of service over the years. As such, thank you to the countless clients, legal colleagues, and even former opposing counsel, who have trusted my firm to represent and advise their friends, family and contacts.

Through the years, I have also been tremendously fortunate to have the support of our litigation attorney Owen Laird. His sound judgment, keen legal insights, and emotional intelligence have been true assets as we counsel and guide clients through unexpected storms. In addition, I am so grateful to our numerous local/outside employment & labor counsel who have provided invaluable guidance and collaboration on matters in CA, MA, CT, DC and many jurisdictions in between.

Above all, thank you to our loyal clients: we are truly honored to represent and counsel you through your most difficult professional chapters. Given the fast-changing landscape of the American work-place, it will be interesting to see what the next 10 years hold.

Great seeing old colleagues and friends at the Asian American Bar Association of New York gala last week. My firm was proud to sponsor this annual event, at Cipriani Wall Street, which brought together 750 attorneys, judges, and guests. I still remember when our annual gathering used to be held at a local Chinese restaurant, well over twenty years ago!

I loved that the evening's program reminded us of the importance of rising to the occasion as needed, by defending the rule of law, speaking up for justice, and by studying history so that we do not repeat it.

Congrats to current president Benjamin Hsing and outgoing president Joseph Eng on a wonderful program.
Thank you to all the awardees, colleagues and friends who are making strides in their respective fields: you inspire us to be the best we can be in our daily practice of the law.

On Thursday, I stood with other attorneys in Foley Square near NY's court houses, and participated in the Attorney Rally for the Rule of Law.

My colleagues and friends know me to be someone who is able to look objectively at both sides of every dispute. I have friends and colleagues on both sides of the aisle, and I welcome open dialogue about topics on which we do not see eye to eye.

Many of you also know that my family and I immigrated to the U.S. from South Korea in the early 80's during a time of great unrest and upheaval.

During this dark chapter of Korean history, citizens lived under authoritarian rule: the president conducted public affairs as a dictator, and student pro-democracy demonstrators routinely were tear-gassed, imprisoned, or killed for their beliefs. Public officials deemed as political enemies were punished ruthlessly or "disappeared."

My decision to attend this rally was borne from the growing concern over the past weeks, that we have crossed a dangerous line in our country. The rule of law is not a partisan issue, or a matter of individual discretion.

When I became an attorney 23 years ago, I took an oath to defend the U.S. Constitution. As a naturalized citizen, it is my greatest honor to uphold this promise.

I have been proud to be part of a profession whose charge is to advocate, and not to stay silent in the presence of injustice.

One of the speakers yesterday quoted MLK Jr: "In the end, we will not remember the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."

As members of the bar and law firms continue to receive retribution for not falling in line with political mandates, and as judges receive threats of violence, arrest and removal for carrying out their jobs, it is incumbent upon us lawyers to take a stand and say: enough is enough.

I wasn't sure quite what to expect when I arrived at Foley Square yesterday. But I truly was heartened and inspired by the strong turnout, and by the bar leaders who spoke eloquently and passionately about why defending the rule of law--and judicial independence-- matters now, more than ever before.

During the rally, we re-took our oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. I was proud to join with other attorneys to urge others to rise above fear and to speak out.

By standing up for the rule of law, I hoped to set an example for my kids, to teach them that collective action matters.

My heartfelt thanks to all the rally organizers and the various bar associations (New York City Bar Association, New York County Lawyer Association, NY Council of Defense Lawyers, NY Civil Liberties Union, and others) for putting together one of the most peaceful and moving demonstrations I have witnessed.

Due to the high sensitivity of the client matters I handle, I decline public discussion of case details, and I remind my clients to not disclose case info even in their reviews.

Still, thanks to the volume and quality of reviews from my clients, my firm has earned the designation of Platinum Client Champion by the rating agency Martindale Hubbell.

I am very grateful for the trust that my clients place in me to represent them through their most difficult career transitions and workplace challenges.

Looking forward to a brand new year-- and wishing everyone healthy, new beginnings in 2025! 🎉

On October 25th, my firm was proud to sponsor Korean American Civic Empowerment (KACE), a community-based non-profit & non-partisan organization which has been working tirelessly to register and educate voters.

For over 20 years, I have witnessed KACE grow from a tiny band of volunteers in Queens to an organization that mobilizes and trains hundreds of young people in NY, NJ and beyond to promote the importance of civic and public service in the Korean and Asian American communities.

I am especially in awe of the local HS and college students who dedicate countless hours to increasing voter participation and civic engagement. They give me hope for the future. 🌱

Here are some photos from KACE's beautiful gala at the historic Riverside Church in New York, courtesy of Lawrence Han and KALAGNY on LinkedIn.

It was such a boost of positive energy to be part of a community of friends and colleagues united in common purpose.

My firm was proud to sponsor the Asian American Bar Association of New York's annual gala last night at Cipriani Wall Street. One of my favorite events of the year ~ so energizing to connect with decades-old friends, and to be inspired by new colleagues.

Thank you to the outgoing and incoming leadership. May we all lean on each other in our ongoing pursuit of justice and meaningful community building!

Happy Almost Friday: I am pleased to announce the launch of my firm's quarterly advisory, *Working Perspectives. Here is our inaugural issue-- enjoy! The purpose of this advisory is to provide our insights, observations and recommendations in the midst of all the disruptions happening in the labor market & workplace.

No wonky legalese; just some balanced, common sense advice based upon what we are seeing in our work in the field of labor & employment law. As our nation grapples with this latest phase of the pandemic, a great deal of turbulence is happening in many workplaces. Employers and employees are dealing with rapid job creation, as well as broad scale re-organization, job loss/terminations and seismic shifts in attitudes/expectations about remote work arrangements.

I look forward to your feedback.

People reeling today from news re pattern of misconduct at and , but unfortunately, he is just one of countless business leaders/bosses who create a toxic work environment and engage in improper sexual conduct with employees.

Don't be that company/board which merely "investigates." Take ownership & fix what's broken. I am so proud to represent and fight for women and employees who are harassed and then punished for complaining.
