Andreas Koutsoudakis, Partner and Co-Chair of DHC’s Hospitality & Restaurant Law Group, has authored a timely Special Report on “The SBA COVID EIDL Default Wave – What Borrowers Need to Know in 2026.”

Many small business, restaurant, and hospitality borrowers who received SBA COVID Economic Injury Disaster Loans — especially loans over $200,000 with personal guaranties — are now facing collection notices, Treasury Offset notifications, wage garnishment notices, and letters regarding 30% surcharge assessments.

In this report, Andreas explains what changed after the SBA’s cross-servicing exemption expired on March 31, 2026, why the federal collection apparatus is now active, and what options may still be available to borrowers.

For business owners facing EIDL collection issues, timing matters. The earlier borrowers engage, the more options may remain on the table.

If you are dealing with an EIDL collection notice, AWG hearing, Treasury Offset, 30% surcharge assessment, or related SBA COVID EIDL issue, we welcome the conversation. Contact us to learn what options may be available.
