ArtCondo.com is a political, grassroots artists' project to help artists break into economic power relationships they are usually excluded from, and to help them reduce their rental burdens and gain greater economic freedom. ArtCondo has experience organizing artists, broad reaching resources to help Artists realize their building buying goals and specialized real estate expertise in real estate sales, development and financing. ArtCondo is founded by Michele Gambetta, an artist and real estate professional licensed at BOND NY, a Manhattan real estate brokerage, experienced at finding underutilized properties, buying and selling commercial and residential real estate, and securing commercial mortgages. Getting mortgages will be difficult for artists - especially groups of them - but it IS possible. Michele brings grassroots arts organizing and fundraising talents to ArtCondo from her experience organizing the RIDER Projects from 2001-2008, and the Art-Anon.org artists critique group. Please join ArtCondo and Reform Architecture on Wednesday March 20th for an online presentation focusing on zoning strategies for Artist Collectives, Art Institutions and other Arts Organizations. In particular, we'll discuss how and when Arts uses can be classified as Community Facilities, and why it can be advantageous to structure not only a building project, but potentially organizational aspects of an arts practice within that framework. The class will conclude with a comparison of Adaptive Reuse and new development community-facility white-boxes, and the implications of those models from a tenant/owner perspective. Presentation will be given by Karim Ahmed, principal of REFORM Architecture.
