The defendant in this fraud case claimed that the defrauded investors, including pastors, were “sophisticated investors” eligible to put their money into complex, opaque and expensive investment schemes. Religious groups have an obligation to be prudent with their funds, which may mean limiting their investments in high-risk, complicated instruments.

Justice Gorsuch has referred our request in the case of Keil v. New York City to the whole court for conference on March 4th.

The Supreme Court said Wednesday that it will consider a renewed request from New York City teachers and staff to block a vaccine mandate due their religious objections, despite an earlier denial by Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

According to this article, NYC Mayor De Blasio claims that the city's vaccine mandates have always been upheld in court. Has he forgotten? Last week, in response to a lawsuit we filed, the US Court of Appeals found the standards the city schools were using to evaluate religious exemptions from the mandate to be likely unconstitutional, and required claims to be evaluated under a new standard.

Mayor Bill de Blasio described the measure as a “pre-emptive strike” designed to stall another wave of coronavirus cases and help reduce transmission of the Omicron variant.
