Congratulations to all those who took part in yesterday's redux of the Court Orientation group photo on the steps of the LIC courthouse. This includes those who participated in the 2022 Court Orientation (3L daytime and 3L evening students) as well as 4Ls in the 2021 Court Orientation. Because the Orientations were during the pandemic, there was no in-person group photo. How time has changed since then!!

As we await Susan Stava's photos, here's one I took on my iphone. Many thanks to CUNY Law grad NYS Sup.Ct. Judge Lumarie Maldonado-Cruz, Administrative Judge Maguerite Grays, Dean Sudha Setty and Assoc. Dean of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management Joanne Hyppolite. A shout out to Career Planning's Jasmin Torres & Therese McNulty for shepherding.

CUNY Law grad Nicole Faut (2018) is organizing this womrn in the law event.

The Young Lawyers Conference ("YLC") of the Virginia State Bar ("VSB") is excited to host Bridging the Generational Gap for Women in the Law with Lauren Stiller Rikleen on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM [2.0 hr MCLE credit PENDING] at the Loft at Liberty Street in downtown Harrisonburg, Virginia, to honor and uplift women in the legal profession in our area and across the Commonwealth.

The event will feature Lauren Stiller Rikleen, an accomplished attorney, author, and speaker, who is a nationally-recognized leader in the arena of bringing the legal community together over topics of empowerment and overcoming inequality, bias, and other barriers that women have faced in the legal profession. Her roster of legal, business, and community leadership roles and accolades would be too much to mention here, but to highlight, she is the Co-Chair of the Women’s Caucus of the American Bar Association, and has published several books and over 200 articles on important topics about women and the law. As part of her speaking engagement with us, we are excited to provide copies of Lauren’s book, “You Raised Us, Now Work With Us: Millennials, Career Success, and Building Strong Workplace Teams,” for all attendees of Bridging the Generational Gap for Women in the Law. Lauren will sign books upon request.

A virtual option is available for out-of-town participants, and this event is geared towards law students, lawyers, judges, and legal support staff across the Valley and around the Commonwealth.

To register, please visit https://bit.ly/empoweringwomeninthelaw. More information about the types of tickets available and the event itself can be found in the attachment.
